Hmmmph.

I feel like the hero was "great." Steady, teddy bear, just fine. Clearly a cool, chill dude...but that's...it.

This is by far the weakest of Kylie Scott's books for me. The heroine was strange and hard to identify with, and frankly I couldn't get over her referring to her trans best friend as "him," discussing a story pre-transition, but saying Val interchangeably during that story. If she identified as female, then maybe just say "she?" Sorry, maybe nitpick, and so besides the point...

It was also weird, the couple discussed trying new stuff and suddenly it felt like they were banging. I was wondering if I fell asleep for a little bit (I'm being serious here, I was sleep-reading late last night- WE all do it right? Doze off then wake up to read a couple sentences, repeat.). I tried a couple times to figure out if it felt out of the blue, and it still did. Someone can call me on that, for I may not be the most reliable.

Totally unlike Kylie Scott, there were some weird plot devices to create Alex's outsider status, which she did totally fine on her own. She liked sex a whole whole lot but hated strangers, even though that's all she'd ever done before...She hated rejection and feared it but did crazy things showing up out of the blue and refusing to leave. Her character was inconsistent for me and it was confusing.

And disappointingly, my heart didn't start pounding till Jimmy from Lead showed up with toddlers in tow and that lasted about 6 words.

In sum, I'm disappointed.
